Many people simply can't get their head around what is appealing about breaking out the fake blood, entrails and creating scary, horror atmospheres. It's true: horror is an acquired taste, though I'd have to say I believe fear is an integral part of us and our nature. Most people enjoy being scared and hiding behind the sofa when watching horror films, or listening to spooky ghost stories at bedtime and being too terrified to sleep. It's fun. Most people say 'eeewww' at blood but blood is an important part of us. It's our life force. Horror can raise important questions about the dark side of humanity which may be in each of us, and ultimately, something that is a certainty for us all: death. It just takes a little open-mindedness to start seeing through different (open) eyes. Horror and Macabre Photography: Why We do it.
